Aaron’s Monday update

Hi everyone Andrew and I had a couple of days with our dear friends Bryan, Carole and Jake in Dallas (thanks again guys for your Texan hospitality – you are just wonderful).  When we left on Friday Aaron was exhausted from no sleep, very anxious and quite weak.  When we arrived back last night he was [...]

Thanks

Hi there Just another quick one from me.  I wanted to post a great big whopping Kiwi thank you to a few more people.  For those who may not know, Alex set this website up in a matter of days after Aaron’s accident.  Alex – this site has made it possible for Aaron’s friends and [...]

Hi from Megan

Hey Clarkie Support Team I’ve been very tardy with my updates and I do apologise – I don’t know where the last week has gone.  I have been spending a bit of time with the Physical Therapist and Aaron doing some of his exercises.  This is a very slow and fatiguing bunch of exercises and [...]

Update Tuesday Nov 18 7AM

TBI can result in dysphagia depending on the brain region involved. Dysphagia refers to difficulty in eating as a result of disruption in the swallowing process. Aaron had a videofluorographic swallowing study done today to evaluate his swallowing abnormalities. The study includes a swallowing test with barium-laced thin liquids. He was unable to swallow the [...]

Back in the US

Hi NZ team (and Bryan & Carole, Texan Team) I arrived back in Colorado 2 days ago to a bit of snow and a big smiling, hugging Clarkie.  What a day that was. Aaron still has a very long way to go in his recovery and is still showing blatant signs of severe brain trauma [...]

Update Saturday 15 Nov 12pm

Not much has changed with Aaron’s condition the past couple of days. Still experiencing the typical TBI mood swings – sometimes he is confused and angry, other times he extremely paranoid and delusional. But for the majority he has been in a better mood and seems pretty lucid. His sister, Megan, arrived last night and [...]

Auctions and Events reminder

A reminder to check out the Auctions and Events section of the site. We’ve got some new items recently added to the Clarkie benefit Auction, and I’ve been in a fierce bidding battle for a sweet autographed and framed Nicky Hayden picture. I’m pretty sure Marty at the 12Volt Tavern has more PBR with 100% [...]

Update Wednesday Nov 12 10AM

Tuesday was a good day for Aaron. TBI (Traumatic Brain Injury) is often described as a “roller coaster ride through hell”, which I find to be highly appropriate. I met with Aaron’s neuropsychologist, who has deemed Aaron to be functioning at a Rancho Level of 5 – Confused; Inappropriate Non-Agitated; Maximal Assistance. Aaron’s memories are [...]

Update Monday Nov 10 1pm

Friday : 11.07.08 Aaron was the best I’ve seen him thus far. He could remember names and context. Plus he was able to retain information from previous days. I even noticed his personality coming through. We were able to hold very short conversations (via the alphabet board). I explained the crash a bit more to [...]
