With Daytona around the corner, I’ve been thinking a lot about Medical Durable Power of Attorney, Medical Proxy, and The Five Wishes (valid in 40 states). I strongly advise looking into these forms prior to the first race of the season. The HIPAA Privacy Rule, which protects the privacy of individually identifiable health information, will prevent your loved ones from gaining valuable information regarding your health status in the case of unfortunate events. The Medical Durable Power of Attorney is free and available online. The Five Wishes form is $5.00 and also available online. The Medical Proxy form is required to filled out after the fact, needing the signature of the patient’s attending physician. For the sake of your family and friends and your own health care, please take a moment and fill out a few forms.

The medical team has done numerous tests on his vocal chords with diagnosis and treatment to follow. The results of these will also result in a specialist program within the Speech & Language therapists’ program. Aaron has an appointment mid next week with an Orthopaedic doctor who is a specialist on pelvic injuries. The PT team have spent 2 sessions assessing him so that they can put together a specialist program especially for him. There is a hydrotherapy pool which he will be able to use once his feeding tube comes out – although we won’t know when that will be. On top of this, the team of PTs and doctors at Rehab Plus are doing sensory tests and nerve tests to work out what is going on with his tingling and numbness in his left leg and arm. Aaron is really happy so far with the expertise and thoroughness of the therapists, testing and treatment.

We would like to thank Air Ambulance Worldwide & their med team, Air New Zealand, and the LAX ambulance crew for an extremely safe and professional medical transfer. A special thanks to Megan and Raye, who took on the daunting task of on-flight Aaron aides.

Once again, we would also like to convey our utmost gratitude to all of you who have been a part of the Clarkie recovery. We cannot begin to convey how difficult the past 9 weeks have been for all of us. Knowing we have such a strong network of support behind us enables us to make it through each day.

Aaron deeply misses all of his US friends and he would love to hear from you. I will be posting a mailing address for him shortly…send him a little holiday cheer.

I wanted to provide an update on the events and donation opportunities that are available to help out Aaron. He’s far away from his US friends for now, but can still use our help.

Eric Jones has a few of the “Clarkie Recover” swingarm stickers left, and will send them out to anyone who makes a donation to support Clarkie, just forward your Paypal receipt to Eric.

Marty from the 12 Volt Tavern let me know that he has completed the PBR sale to benefit Clarkie and will be sending along all the proceeds from that event, as well as other donations collected from bar customers and a band called “Stabbin’ Hobos” who donated their cut of the door charge from a show this weekend. A couple of the guys in the band know Aaron from super moto.

Chris Kruzel has the “Super Clarkie” stickers available, with all proceeds going to support Aaron. Send Chris your PayPal receipt and he’ll get the stickers off to you.
