First week out of rehab!
Well it has been a great week, as you know i moved up north to Whangarei to start outpatients work and just begin a normal life, well way more normal than being in Rehab Plus 24 hours a day.
I finally had my first physio session today with Nic, she is great and i can already tell she will push me which is what i want. We just ran through most of my program concentrating more on stretches and holding positions properly and things for the right amount of time, we also did a lot of work with a pilates ball. To be honest i thought they were just a big bouncy ball you sat on when there we no chairs around, but when used properly they are great. I did a lot of work on my abs, more stretching and something called your core, i mean i have heard of the core of an apple, but never done anything for my core as i absolutely hate doing sit-ups. So yeah a great first day and now i have something good to focus on and get into a real routine.
A good friend of mine Shannon is still recovering from back surgery and we sort of have a competition going as to who can do what. It is good as i have a good friend going through their own rehab program, sure right now we both run like Big Foot but we are getting there.
I was recently contacted be Jessica Zalusky who is a female professional racer that i met a long time ago, she is going through her own rehab right now and i wont speak on her behalf but for her story you can go to http://www.caringbridge.org/visit/jessicazalusky
I am also reading the book by Richard Hammond from Top Gear fame about his crash and recovery, normally i am not a big reader unless it has pictures of motorcycles in it, but this book has me captivated. The biggest thing for me and where i am up to, is the part written by his wife, it is devastating and while i don’t know everything my own wife Tedi went through i am guessing quite a lot of the feelings Richard’s wife went through, my own wife went through which tears me up inside a lot. Shit i was in a coma so i was happy, but i can only imagine the anguish my friends and family went through those first few days.
Apart from that nothing new to report, i have had a couple of visits with a local dentist to fix some of my teeth that were damaged from the accident and had a molar pulled out that couldn’t be saved. I just want to thank everyone that has left messages so far, it means a lot to me and some of them make me laugh my ass off so keep them coming.

Clarkie – I recommend you discuss the possibility of an implant to replace
the molar that couldn’t be saved. I’ve had a ton of dental work over my
life, crowns, bridges, etc, and now 4 implants. The implants are by far
the way to go. I sure wish they had been available earlier.
Great to hear about your progress, Hi to Megan.
