Get Well Clarkie!

Following Aaron’s initial Swallow Test the med team did another “x-ray video” yesterday where they tested and tracked his ability to swallow various types of liquid, from water consistency to nectar consistency.  This test wasn’t quite so successful unfortunately.  His Speech and Language therapist showed us the video which was interesting to watch and helped us understand swallowing and the steps that Tedi has mentioned previously.

Clarkie is able to swallow small amounts of liquid but what they have found from the video some of the liquid is “pooling” rather than being swallowed which is then being coughed up later.  What this all means is that there is still a chance of getting food/liquid taken down into his lungs.  So until this improves we’ll have to keep the feeding tube in – a huge disappoint to him. 

Mum and I have being showing Aaron the website messages over the last few days.  He has now read through every single one of them and can’t believe how many there are and from so many wonderful people in his life.  Thanks guys – it’s meant the world to him.
