Happy Thanksgiving
Hi everyone
For those in NZ and abroad, today in the US it is Thanksgiving Day. Well, where do I start with how much we have to be thankful for…
For Andrew – how can express my love and gratitude for being my rock and for your love and for how giving you are, both to me and my family, on a daily basis.
For Dad, Mum & Ray – for everything. Especially for being so willing to give everything you have for your son.
For Tedi, for all that she is to Aaron and for what she has achieved over the last 7 long and harrowing weeks.
For Scott – you are such a great friend and brother in law to Aaron, and to me, and the strength you give to Tedi is awe-inspiring
For Josh – how can we express how we feel about you?? Not only have you saved a child, brother, husband and friend but you have continued to be here every step of the way and given up time, money (a bike!) and sacrificed time with your own family to help mine. I also want to thank Margaret as we have taken so much of your time, and your beautiful girls’ time, away from your wonderful husband. Thank you.
For all of Aaron’s dear friends out there who visited constantly even though they couldn’t see him, sent food, and have written so many heartfelt messages. These words have taught me so much about the person that my brother is and have kept all of us going through some dark days.
A special thanks to Glenn Conser and his family who have invited Andrew and I to their house for Thanksgiving – our first ever!
And for all of our family, including Andrew’s special family, and friends in NZ and around the world who have been so supportive…there are people who have been constantly by our side and there have been lovely messages from people we haven’t heard from in years. You cannot imagine how much it all means.
Most of all we are thankful for one special guy called Aaron. You have toughed it out when so many others would have given in. Your courage and bravery and determination knock me sideways every minute I spend with you. When I told Aaron this yesterday he whispered “everything I do…gym, math or writing (he’s learning to write again with his damaged right arm) I have to do it twice as good as they expect me to”.
He then pointed to the bracelet on his arm that says :Quitting is not an option”.
Love and hugely happy Turkey Day to you all
