Hi from Megan
Hey Clarkie Support Team
I’ve been very tardy with my updates and I do apologise – I don’t know where the last week has gone. I have been spending a bit of time with the Physical Therapist and Aaron doing some of his exercises. This is a very slow and fatiguing bunch of exercises and goal for him but although he is totally shattered after it he does really give it 120% everytime. It’s heartening to watch his determination.
After doing a 4 week x-ray of his pelvis area they have unfortunately decided that he is to be non-weight bearing for another 3 months, which means being wheelchair bound. However he is getting stronger on his good side and working really hard on sliding himself across ways (exhausting) and also on pivoting on his good leg whilst aiming for the wheelchair at the same time. Easy for a person without a smashed pelvis and a head injury but a huge ask for our Clarkie. It’s incredible to watch his sheer determination – you’d all be so proud.
Our Aunt, Sue, and her family had such a great idea and sent over a huge NZ flag and a flag that was designed for the America’s Cup with a Fighting Kiwi on it. Her sister Margaret has suggested that I take a photo of it which I will do in the next couple of days. We also have some wonderful drawings from my dear friend Maria’s kids, Molly & Hugo (hello munchkins!).
Thanks also to Pip & Tony Sail, our neighbours and great friends. They haven’t even met Aaron and their boys, Oliver, Tim and Nick, along with Emily and Ryan Steven, made the cutest card with pictures of themselves and a lovely message each. So very thoughtful - I can’t wait for you guys to meet Aaron.
My darling Andrew has arrived. It was so wonderful when he walked into Aaron’s room and Aaron recognised him – despite not having seen Andrew for over 10 years (Aaron was friends with Andrew’s uni friends and actually knew Andrew better than I did all those years ago). It’s lovely to have Andrew’s support here.
Thaks again for all the wonderful emails and texts I have recieved. It gives us more strength than you can imagine.
Love to you all
Megan & Andrew
